A static HTML website is made of plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript files, served directly to the visitor with no database or content management system behind them. It suits landing pages, portfolios, one-page sites and small company sites whose content changes rarely. The result is fast, secure and cheap to host, because there is almost nothing that can slow it down or break.

WordPress runs on a database and lets you edit content through a visual interface, at the cost of plugins, updates and heavier pages. An HTML site has none of that: it loads faster and needs no maintenance, but content changes are made in the files rather than in an editor. If you update your site every week, WordPress is the better fit. If it changes a few times a year, HTML usually wins.

Anywhere that serves static files: Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, or the hosting that comes with your domain. Netlify and Vercel both offer free plans that cover most small static sites. The code is delivered ready to upload, and connecting your own domain is a standard step on all of these platforms.

Yes, but in the files rather than in a visual editor. Changing text, images or links means editing the HTML directly, which is straightforward for small changes and gets easier with a code editor. If you or your team need to publish content often without touching code, a WordPress or Shopify site is the better choice, and I build both.

The technical foundations are strong: fast loading, clean semantic markup, proper heading structure and meta tags, and nothing that blocks search engines from reading the page. Speed in particular is a ranking factor that static sites win easily. Content strategy and link building are separate work, and no platform does those for you.

If your copy isn't written yet, say so before ordering: the structure can guide the writing, but the words still need to come from you.
